I love Mahler’s music, and I have read a good biography, but I don’t recall coming across this lovely quote anywhere. As a conservative, I think the great composer’s words capture perfectly the spirit of tradition. Thanks for sharing this gem with us, Max.
It’s a good one isn’t it. I wouldn’t consider myself a conservative or a traditionalist at all, yet the quote still resonated with me, which I think shows the quality of it.
